We’re back from our trip to Vegas and California, and tonight we had a belated birthday celebration for Navdeep. And that means, yes sir, cake!
Sadly, today we had our last ever cake from Vacarro’s of Colonia — an institution long-frequented by the Charaipotra clan. Vacarro’s cakes and cupcakes were a staple at birthday parties at our Lake Ave. homestead over the course of the last two decades.
Who could forget the fluffy yellow cake topped with lipsmackingly sugary icing in the bakery’s signature flavors, lemony yellow, shocking pink strawbery and that toasted mocha goodness. Yum. It’s truly heartbreaking. Sure, there’s still that other Vacarro’s outpost in Clark, but really, it’s the end of an era.
RIP Vacarros. You will be missed.
