Okay, so I’ve been MIA for a while. I’ve started blogging on the MSN TV Buzz Blog and been otherwise engaged in work-type stuff. I’m also six months pregnant!
But, alas, I haven’t touched my novel since the beginning of the summer — it has been languishing at 20,000 words since June. And with the baby due in February, I now have a real, tangible ticking clock. That means it’s ass-in-gear time for me.
With that said, I’ll be joining the ranks of the writers who do National Novel Writing Month and also joining my fellow novelists at the Backspace Writers’ Group in their November challenge. The goal is to get as much of the novel done as possible. And while I’m at 20,000 words now, I should wrap up at about 80,000. So I’m only one-fourth of the way through. Intimidating, sure. So I’ve decided to break it down into bite-size, manageable numbers that don’t sound nearly as scary. And — for accountability’s sake — I’ll be checking in with both writers’ groups, as well as updating my progress (or lack thereof) on Facebook, where I can be mocked and ridiculed by my “friends” if I slack off. (My husband is sure to be the first to volunteer for that!) I’ll also aim to report back here on a semi-regular basis. Not that anyone is still reading this site.
Okay, enough expounding on my goals. Time to get to work, since today’s magic number is a 1,000 words!
Wish me luck!
