TweetOkay, so with just a half an hour left in the day that was May 1, 2012, I’m finally posting. Yes, I’m adding to my already crazy summer schedule. But this blog has long been neglected in favor of work and the TeenWritersBloc.com site, so I’ve decided this month I’ll get back into the swing of things. Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax takes a place of pride alongside other censored titles — including the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Perks of Being A Wallflower — at the American Library Association’s Banned Book Week Read-Out tent at the Brooklyn Book Festival. Which just moved it to the top of our reading list for little Kavya.

TweetHaving seen my fair share of teen tomes turned into tragically bad movies – anyone recall the insipid, inane Blood & Chocolate? – I wasn’t expecting all that much from Catherine Hardwicke’s adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling vampire tale, Twilight. Sure, Hardwicke was a charmer, with her California breeziness, and had a solid pedigree with smarter teen fare like Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown.
