TweetAfter being sick for nearly two weeks, baby Kavya’s on the road to recovery. And since we’re still hanging at my parents’ house, where she’s got space to be all over the place, she’s been crawling up a storm.
But one of her favorite — thankfully more mellow — activities this week (and every week, actually) has been reading, because she’s got quite the library stashed away at nani-ma’s place.
Kavi loves books. Not only does she love eating them (and everything else, really), but she also loves hearing …

Okay, so I’ve been MIA for a while. I’ve started blogging on the MSN TV Buzz Blog and been otherwise engaged in work-type stuff. I’m also six months pregnant!
But, alas, I haven’t touched my novel since the beginning of the summer — it has been languishing at 20,000 words since June. And with the baby due in February, I now have a real, tangible ticking clock. That means it’s ass-in-gear time for me.
With that said, I’ll be joining the ranks of the writers who do National Novel Writing Month and …

TweetThis a.m., Amazon unveiled its new Kindle DX, a widescreen model of the electronic reader that is quickly revolutionizing the book publishing biz.
The new spin is that the Kindle is the It item for college students, who can easily upload their bulky textbooks to the reader instead of lugging them around. The 10-inch Kindle, which is just about a third-of-an-inch thick, can hold up to 3,500 books, magazines and documents.
But clocking in at a whopping $489 retail, the machine may cost these poor students more than the books would …

You’ve commented that Jessica Alba, who had her daughter Honor Marie two days before you had Stella, was back in her pre-baby body two weeks after giving birth, while you could barely move. Did you feel pressure after your pregnancy ended to be physically perfect?
When I wrote Mommywood I was still losing my baby weight, so when I talked about the pressure, yes, it was very much there. It took [Jessica Alba] two weeks to get back to her pre-baby …

With a new memoir on parenting, the TV scion turned reality star dishes on her feud with her mother, Candy, her kids’ love of paparazzi, and her return to 90210.
Tori Spelling has survived a lot longer than most people thought she would. After a decade on her father’s young-adult juggernaut, Beverly Hills, 90210, she, like the rest of the teen-idol cast, spent a decade in relative oblivion. But then something changed—not in Tori, but in pop culture. TV veered sharply into high-drama, …

TweetIn which our heroine, Tori Spelling, balances raising two kids under two, a reality show, a clothing line and a triumphant return to her old zip code.
This week I interviewed Hollywood scion Tori Spelling for The Daily Beast. Spelling — best known as Donna Martin from Beverly Hills, 90210
– has managed to make a solid career for herself despite making a
tabloid splash three years ago when then then-married had a
home-wrecking affair with equally- married TV movie costar Dean
McDermott.
Despite the fallout, she and Dean wed, created a hit reality …

TweetMaybe it's my age, but I best remember Cloris Leachman as the charming-but-daffy older woman who came to replace Mrs. Garrett on the Facts of Life in the next-to-last season of that classic comedy. And she brought with her my first ever crush, Andy, played by the aw-shucks handsome Mackenzie Austin. His only other claim to fame was the Garbage Pail Kids movie. Whatever became of Mackenzie?
Anyways. Turns out funnywoman Leachman is an Oscar and Emmy winner — she holds the record for the most TV trophies ever, with …

Was doing Dancing difficult for you physically?
It was. I had gained about 30 pounds, and most of it was in my stomach. It made it really hard to dance. I couldn’t even imagine hopping, and to dance, you have to at least be able to hop. I’ve lost half of the weight now, but I sure didn’t lose it when I was on the show. It was wonderful, but it was hard. When you’re on the show, that’s your life. Three hours a …

Cloris Leachman could fill a memoir with tales of seducing men half her age, watching Marilyn grind with Robert Kennedy and her “epic” attraction to Gene Hackman. So that’s just what she did.
Cloris Leachman was an overweight octogenarian who wanted to compete on the endurance-testing reality show, Dancing With the Stars. “They said I was too old. They’re denying it now, so I don’t know what to think,” she says. “Maybe they just didn’t like me?”
If that’s the case, audiences disagreed—Leachman argued …
