TweetMy plan this summer is to get things done, specifically when it comes to writing fiction. As I mentioned yesterday, I’m all about keeping up the momentum. But I’m nothing if not indecisive — which happens to be a very typical Libra trait.
Sigh. Today I spent the afternoon tallying up word counts — for three different works-in-progress. I’m having trouble deciding which one to plow ahead on first — and these aren’t even the only ones I have brewing. They’re just the only ones I have word counts on already.
It …

TweetThere are only two weeks left of school, and for my thesis (which is done and approved — yay!) I had to push myself to write 90 pages in just two months. I’m used to deadlines when it comes to journalism, but not so much in my creative endeavors, and so this was a really intense time.
Having accomplished that thesis mission, I’ve sort of taken a moment to just sit back and breathe a sigh of relief. But I’m quickly realizing that I can’t let myself get too comfortable. Everyone, …

TweetOkay, so with just a half an hour left in the day that was May 1, 2012, I’m finally posting. Yes, I’m adding to my already crazy summer schedule. But this blog has long been neglected in favor of work and the TeenWritersBloc.com site, so I’ve decided this month I’ll get back into the swing of things. I’m taking part in Michelle Rafter’s annual blogathon, which I’ve done once before. Last year, more than 200 bloggers participated!
This blog has long been a mishmash of random thoughts and musings, so I’ve …

I’ll save the run-down list for my planner. But this year, I hope to work smarter not harder, to finish what I start, and to slow down and keep in mind what’s really important.

TweetThis is so funny. And so true. I think I’ve actually had this conversation before.

window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
FB.init({appId: “153935341317760″, status: true, cookie: true,
xfbml: true});
};
(function() {
var e = document.createElement(“script”); e.async = true;
e.src = document.location.protocol +
“//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js”;
document.getElementById(“fb-root”).appendChild(e);
}());

This week, as we all gather our loved ones and our thoughts to give thanks for all the love and luck we’ve received this year, it’s worth taking some time to look back and really take stock. So I decided to create a reverse bucket list of things I’m already thankful I’ve accomplished.

TweetIt’s my birthday today. My first as a mama. I wanted to keep Kavi home from day care today so we could all celebrate as a family, but I’ve got a lot on my plate today work-wise and school-wise, and my husband is still under the weather.
So we’ll have to celebrate later. But it’s weird being the birthday girl now. It’s different.
Every year on this day, I find myself taking stock. And usually, when I look at where I am and where I want …

I got accepted to grad school yesterday. Shouldn’t I be more excited?
Before we started TTC, my husband and I talked about me going to get my MFA in creative writing, since writing (and selling) a novel is one of my major goals. And knowing me, I need the structure of a program. Plus, with an MFA, I could eventually teach to subsidize my writing habit. So I applied to three schools, all within a half-hour’s commute, all strong programs, all sure to motivate and …

Okay, so I’ve been MIA for a while. I’ve started blogging on the MSN TV Buzz Blog and been otherwise engaged in work-type stuff. I’m also six months pregnant!
But, alas, I haven’t touched my novel since the beginning of the summer — it has been languishing at 20,000 words since June. And with the baby due in February, I now have a real, tangible ticking clock. That means it’s ass-in-gear time for me.
With that said, I’ll be joining the ranks of the writers who do National Novel Writing Month and …
